Past Contiunous mempunyai tiga fungsi utama dalam penggunaanya yaitu untuk mengambarkan insiden yang sedang terjadi pada masa yang telah lampau, untuk mengambarkan dua buah insiden yang terjadi pada masa lampau, dan untuk mengambarkan dua buah insiden yang terjadi secara serempak.
